A Swindon Works image (negative 5CR 70) showing the interior of brand new Cross-Country DMBC 50697 on 9 May 1957. This is taken from the front of the vehicle looking to the rear, we are in the larger 1st class saloon (12 seats) which was the smoking section, through the partition (no door) is the smaller 6 seat non-smoking first class. Then there is a a vestibule and a 16 seat second class area before the guards van. British Railways.
