A number of Class 117 DMUs were transferred to Haymarket in 1993/1994 to work Fife Circle services - a 3-car set is seen here departing from Waverley on 21 June 1999. The Haymarket 117s were withdrawn from service at the end of 1999 after sufficient new Class 170s had been delivered to Scotrail. Lewis Bevan.
Two days before Christmas in 1999 and the depot yard at Haymarket is full of second generation units of classes 150, 156 and 158, with new Turbostars in their National Express ScotRail livery in the background. Sitting forlornly in the centre sidings are the last of Haymarket's first generation DMU's, three class 117's, with two of them reduced to two car units and all now withdrawn. Leonard Rogers.
