As the chalk on the manifold tells us, this is the No.1 engine on 51666. The two rectangular boxes in the centre under the stepboard contain 'EP' valves, the larger box to the right just before the radiator (with the grille) contains the relays that control the EP valves. An off-duty oval buffer Class 115 diesel multiple unit (which appears to be M51667) is stabled under Rossmore Road overbridge on one of the lines alongside the turntable at the Great Central Railway terminus of London Marylebone on 31st December 1975. Meanwhile another train is signaled away from Platform 5, the white painted bridge giving a backboard to sight the signal arms against. Pete LG99.
