Prior to full electrification to Largs, the new Class 318 service was terminated at Ardrossan with a shuttle DMU service onwards to Largs and Ardrossan Harbour. The last weekend of the DMU shuttle was operated by a somewhat raggedy collection of vehicles - the DMBS from 101 317 in blue/grey, a Class 107 centre car and the DMS from 101 430 (both in Strathclyde Red).
