A hybrid dmu set, with the set number TS404, waits between duties at Leicester station on 2 August 1978. The individual car numbers are: 51110 - Class 100 DMBS; 56296 - Class 122 DTS; 50766 - Class 105 DMBS. Lewis Bevan.

The Birmingham Cross-city line opened in 1978 and Tyseley depot was using some interesting hybrid Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) formations at the outset. Class 100 50342, class 108 56267 and class 105 50812 call at Five Ways with a Longbridge service on 27 May 1978. Chris Morrison.
M51110 leading a mixed 3 car set, TY 414, which should consist of Cl 100-M51110, Class 101- M59543, Class 105-50812, the last two vehicles having had their first class downgraded to second class only. Birmingham New St, 28th June 1982. Paul James.
Two hybrid sets pass through Longbridge on February 18, 1978, with the 12:30 Birmingham New Street - Worcester service. Both seem to be normally Met-Camm sets, the closest is TS417 with a GRC&W DMBS standing in, the rear set has a Cravens DMBS. Michael Mensing.
Tyseley set TS524 comprising Gloucester Class 100, M51119, Class 116 TCL M59009 and Cl 116 DMS, probably M50103, arrive in platform 1 at Birmingham New St, 30th June 1982. Paul James.
Class 100 M51112 is standing in for a Class 116 DMBS in set TS529 when seen at Small Heath in August 1978. Michael Mensing.
With a Class 100 DMBS taking the place of a Class 116 DMS, the 1.8pm Leamington Spa - Birmingham Moor Street departs from Tyseley on November 9, 1976. DMUs can be seen in the depot on the left. Michael Mensing.
I think that this was the first Class 100 DMU that I'd seen in Hereford. Here it is at the rear of a Birmingham-bound train, passing a rake of Mobil gas tanks on the down main in 1977. It appears to be M50340 and is displaying set number TY409 so is likely part of a Met-Camm set. John Crooks.
A 100/116/116 hybrid DMU in Leicester station with the 16:47 to Nottingham on 23 August 1975. M51110 has a Tyseley set number - possibly TY529 - in the cab window. It had been transferred there from Scotland in May of that year and it would remain there until withdrawal in August 1982 as a space power working in a variety of formations. Phillip Malin.
