A three-car Class 101 DMU arrived into Haymarket station from Edinburgh Waverley on 22 July 1979. Then closest car appears to be SC50143. Brian Daniels.

SC52008 was part of set 154 when seen at Haymarket depot on the 12th August 1979. Jerry Glover.
2nd September 1979
Met-Camm DMUs stabled on Haymarket depot on 2 September 1979. Centre is thought to be SC50746, note the vehicle on the left has the set number (177) taped over. Brian Daniels.
28th October 1979
A 105/101/105 DMU set in Haymarket depot on 28 October 1979. Closest is SC51480, a vehicle that spent its whole career in Scotland allocated to Kittybrewster, Leith Central, Hamilton and Haymarket. Within a few months it would become one of the very few 105s to carry blue and grey livery, and would be withdrawn in November 1981. The other two vehicles are presumably 59047 and 51474. 101 337 at Haymarket depot in 1980 in amongst other Class 101 and Class 105 vehicles (including a 105/101 hybrid). Graham Baker.

Set: 240
Class 101 DMU set 240 on Haymarket depot on 10 February 1980. The white set number was unusual, the DMSL may have been a recent transfer to Scotland as it without a destination blind and the normal painted window frames, although the vehicle numbers do have an SC prefix and there is a Dundee shed sticker on the cab. There is also signs of side-swipe damage, particularly to the rear of the vehicle. Brian Daniels.

For many years it was common for Glasgow Works to despatch overhauled DMU vehicles to Edinburgh in the consist of the daily parcels train from nearby Sighthill parcels depot. On 27th December 1980 there seems to have been a mistake and one of Hamilton depot’s class 107 sets (59782 + 52021 visible) arrived. I can only assume that 40161 was being used to return it to the correct destination, seen leaving Haymarket station. Possibly one of the last workings for 40161 as it was withdrawn 2 days later.
