The one that got away! Class 114 DMBS 53019 Sitting in the withdrawn siding at Tyseley Depot on 15/Jul/1992. This was one of the lucky ones, being subsequently preserved at the Midland Railway - Butterley and today is the only class 114 DMBS in existence in original passenger condition. The coloured dot next to the vehicle number was part of a coding system to denote which withdrawn vehicles were to be scrapped or had been sold for further use. Robert Chilton.

Rail blue liveried class 122 route learner no. TDB975540, formerly 55016, sits at Tyseley depot with the GWR chocolate & cream class 117 stabled behind on 15/Jul/1992. 975540 was withdrawn in 1993. Robert Chilton.

Sandite car TDB977486, formerly class 121 driving trailer 54285, standing at Tyseley depot on 15/Jul/1992. Curiously almost every single window has been plated over, including two of the windscreens, leaving a rather more restricted view than usual ahead, although the headcode panel, long disused, remains unplated. Unfortunately the vehicle could only be viewed by peering through a fence making a photo of the complete vehicle impossible. Robert Chilton.

Class 116 51134, set number C392 presumably with 51147, is seen at Tyseley on 18.10.1992 having been transferred up from Cardiff. It had yet to receive a Tyseley set number and a centre car. Andy Cole.

Class 116 51153, set number T407 is seen at Tyseley on 18.10.1992. It had been transferred from Cardiff and is seen as part of a scratch set with an NSE liveried Class 119 centre car (presumably 59416). When transferred up from Cardiff they came as 2 cars and Tyseley added any available centre car. Andy Cole.

This appears to be sandite Class 121 bubble 977824, seen at Tyseley circa 1993/4. John Grey Turner.

Class 108 DMBS 51943 is seen condemned at Washwood Heath on 25.04.1993. A rake of withdrawn DMU's were stored here for a short time to create space at Tyseley. Andy Cole.

Set: 117306
A view of Tyseley carriage sidings at around 12.30 on 7/7/93. Visible from left to right are : 977752 (ex-51306 - part of former Sandite unit T007), 977842 (ex-55032 - part of the then-current T007), 117 306 (51369/59521/51411) and T317 (51314/59481/51329). T317 was soon to be disbanded but, at this stage, still retained its as-delivered formation, some 33 years after it was put into service. It was also the only complete class 118 still in service. 117 306 would be officially transferred to Haymarket, to see out its last six years of life on the likes of Fife peakhour workings, just two days later.
