Newton Heath based NH132 (52062 + 50778) were part of the formation working the LCGB Manchester Terminals Farewell tour on 3/May/1969. The tour stopped as follows: Manchester Exchange, Kenyon Junction, Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport Edgeley, Northenden Junction, Cheadle Heath South Junction, Buxton No.1, Buxton LNW, Briggs Sidings, Droylesden Junction, Stalybridge, Godley Junction, Glazebrook Junction, Cheadle Heath, Manchester Central, seen here with a 'photo-stop' at Stalybridge. For those who may be surprised at the headcode, 'X' was used for exceptional loads, out of gauge loads and Royal trains, 'Z' was used for inter-regional special workings and at the time on the Midland Region 'T' was used for internal special workings. Seen on December 23rd 1974 is a Scarborough to Manchester Victoria service, consisting of E50554, E59234, E59211 & E50575 pausing at Stalybridge, whilst on the right, the connecting service to Stockport awaits departure in the form of M50348 & M56103 in the days when the 'Stalybridge shuttle' used to run every hour or so. M50356 (and presumably M56111) arrives at Stalybridge with the 14:30 from Stockport (with a tail lamp at this end? maybe changing platforms?) on 31 August 1976. On the left the 12:13 Scarborough-Liverpool Lime Street departs with refurbished liveried E50169 on the rear. Robert Thomas.

Having just arrived at Stalybridge on the famous shuttle from Stockport on 31/3/77 is a Class 100 set. The station which has actually expanded in recent times and of course still retains the marvellous Stalybridge Buffet and Bar! Stephen Burdett.
