A colour image of a 'modern diesel train' leaving Lincoln station as seen in a 1957 article on railways in the county taken from the British Transport Commission magazine 'Transport Age. Older loco hauled stock lurks in the background, one carriage in the 'blood and custard' livery used at the time. Amidst the semaphore signalling a new style fluorescent platform light can be seen with "Lincoln Central' in relief letters on the diffuser. The train is heading off to Grantham. A lovely shot of a pair of green class 114s at Lincoln Central in the 1960s. The one on the right is in Malachite green with white cab roof, while the other is in the later, darker, Brunswick green with darker grey roof and cab roof painted to match, though without any 'speed whiskers' or yellow panel. Lincoln Central Station and High Street signal box in the spring of 1970 with a Derby Heavyweight DMU. High Street signal box was built by the Great Northern Railway in 1874 and extended in 1925. Although now closed it is preserved as a listed structure. Bryan Jeyes.
