Class 107 Crookston Dec 1980. Living in Paisley at the time I took a day out one Saturday to film the Ayr (formerly Hamilton based) Derby's as we called them on the Paisley Canal line and Kilmacolm branch. Why I did this in December and not when the weather was better I'll never know! Leaving everything to the last minute I suppose. Alistair Ness.

Class 116 DMU about to brake for the stop at Crookston station, Saturday 27 September 1980. Set 141 is forming the 15.03 Kilmacolm to Glasgow service. The mixed livery suggests that this unit may be assembled from different sets. Note driver and 'secondman' in the cab. alicia hartman.

Last Days. Westbound DMU rolls into Crookston station on a Glasgow Central - Kilmacolm working. After closure, the footbridge was supposedly dismantled and re-erected at Auchinleck for the station re-opening in May 1984. Maybe not so unlucky for OB 13 after all! The station building was vandalised post closure but was eventually restored as a private dwelling. The former westbound platform at Crookston re-opened in 1990 as part of a truncated service to Paisley Canal. The line was effectively a single track from Dumbreck. However, a passing loop was added at Crookston on the Glasgow side of the Crookston Road over bridge in the background. The line was eventually electrified in 2012. 101688 (51501 + 51431) arrives at Crookston, on the Glasgow Central - Paisley Canal line, with the 12.31 Paisley Canal - Glasgow Central service on 06-07-1996. Crookston is on the Glasgow & South Western's main line from Glasgow to Ayrshire, which was independant of the 'joint' line (with the Caledonian Railway) via Paisley Gilmour Street. It closed as a through route on 10th January 1983 (together with the Kilmacolm branch) but re-opened as far as Paisley Canal in June 1990. Gordon Thomson.
