Unknown Date

The vehicle is identified as a BSO (Brake Second Open) from a QUAD set. The vehicle was new 6-10-59. The biggest clue to it's identity is the weight of 40tons, which makes it a Class 127. Note the lining ended in a semi-circle rather than being squared off at the corners. Taken possibly at Ampthill before closure circa 1959. Photo by Jim Lawrence. Ian McDonald Collection.

1960

A 4-car set approaching Ampthill tunnel on down main. Thought to be taken in 1960, at a time when 115s were also used on the St.Pancras - Bedford services. The underframe arrangement on the first vehicle seems to suggest this is a Class 115. Photo by Jim Lawrence. Ian McDonald Collection.
