Class 104 DMU car 53524, the last to carry a white stripe signifying its modified suspension, is seen coupled to 53464 passing Appley Locks between Appley Bridge and Parbold on the 21st August 1984. The large house on the hill is Parbold Hall, then home of Sir Peter Moores, son of Sir John Moores the founder of Littlewoods Pools.
