A Huddersfield to Sheffield Met-Camm DMU trundles downhill from Summer Lane towards Barnsley shortly after the service was re-routed this way in the summer of 1983. According to my railway diary of the time, the section of single track between here and Summer Lane station was relaid with concrete sleeper continuously welded rail in May 1977.
