Bucholic Alston awaiting its fate, March 1976, with a Metro-Cammell Class "101" Local Passenger 2-car dmu on a service to Haltwhistle. It was to close a month later, with its line to Haltwhistle. It was built in 1852 by the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway (later part of the NER).
