On 19 October 1985 I was chatting to a friend at Leamington Spa who said that one of the last locomotives he was yet to see was stabled at March Yard and would I like a trip over there? On the way we called at Bedford where this class 104 comprising vehicles 53444 + 59206 + 53500 was stabled in the electrified siding alongside the virtually empty car park.
