When new
the exteriors of the cars were painted green with cream
linings. The vehicles never carried whiskers, although
small yellow panels were added in the mid-'60s. The vehicles by-passed all-blue
and went straight into blue/grey. A few started with wrap around yellow
ends covering the cab doors, although soon this returned to the
normal yellow end as per the others..
In blue/grey the DMCs
carried 'Trans-Pennine' hand painted in white on the
sides for a period.
