The Class 121 is effectively a Class 117 driving car with twin cabs and seats for 65 (all second class). The units were originally powered by two AEC engines but, in later years, the ubiquitous Leyland 680 150hp units were installed. The class had the standard Derby four character head code box situated above the middle driving cab window with no destination indicator.
