Delivered at a rate of four units per month between April and July 1960, vehicles were allocated to Plymouth Laira (LA), Bristol (BR) and Reading (RG). The Class was not included in the refurbishment programme.

During the late '80s, the surviving sets were allocated to Cardiff Canton (CF) and Birmingham Tyseley (TS).
