Ten vehicles were transferred to parcel use in 1986. The introduction of 'Pacers' and 'Sprinters' in 1987 saw many of the
units placed into store in Lincoln Holmes Yard. Late '87 saw the
transfer of the remaining passenger sets to Tyseley, where they
widened their sphere of operations, but the fleet was gradually run
down.
At the beginning of 1991, when the DPU's were taken out of service,
only seven 2-car power trailers were left in passenger traffic.

By the end of 1991 only one set (T027) remained in traffic. In Jan
'92 54027 became due for overhaul, and was taken out of use. 53019
worked its final weeks in service coupled to Class 105 DTCL 54484.
