59575  TBS  Great Central Railway

Only one car has been saved for preservation. Buffet car 59575 was bought by the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway and ran as hauled stock. It went from there to Manchester's Museum of Science & Industry. After a few years it was sold as scrap to MC Metals due to the asbestos insulation but was saved at the last minute. It must be one of very few vehicles to leave MC's without being stripped. It moved to the Mid-Norfolk Railway, having been bought by Railcar Enterprises. It was asbestos stripped there and sat in the "queue" waiting to be rebuilt internally. When the Railcar Enterprise vehicles moved to Wirksworth, 59575 moved to the Midland Railway Butterley while an application was made to the HLF for restoration. This was declined, and later the vehicle was sold to Renaissance Railcars and moved to the Great Central Railway.
