Lincoln's TDB 977123-6
had interior fittings, including doors and seats taken
out. They were converted at the end of 1982. 977123
paired with 977126 were soon seen as far away as
Sheffield and Leicester by March '83. They vehicles later
moved to Doncaster and were used for route learning due
to the York ECML diversion. By Nov/Dec. their work was
done and they spent most of the time stabled outside the
works. 977453/4 were converted in 1986.

One of the route learning sets at Sheffield Midland. It still has it's rubber pad between the cab window
and the first "passenger" window, which was fitted to
avoid tablets damaging the bodywork when exchanged on the move. Ian

The Sandites were
converted at Carlisle Currock in 1982. Other vehicles (including
56148) were considered for conversion but rejected.
The ER converted (generally
by removing the seating) several vehicles in the period
around 1985 for parcels use. They were used out of
Cambridge on Red Star traffic such as to Liverpool St,
sometimes hauling a GUV. The second column shows the
withdrawal dates. Pictures can be found
