56445 was delivered to 31A in November '58 paired with 51287.

It was withdrawn in November 1982 and had interior fittings, including doors and seats taken out to become a Route Learning Saloon, one of four (977123-6) done at the time. It was re-numbered TDB977126 and based at Lincoln. It was noted running with 977123 (initially) or 977124, and by March '83 it has been seen as far away as Sheffield and Leicester.

The four vehicles later moved to Doncaster and were used for route learning due to the York ECML diversion. By Nov/Dec. their work was done and they spent most of the time stabled outside the works.

South Kirkby, taken in the 'Pit Yard' (which is now a field). The power car is noted as 51296, it would be numbered 977124 and presumably working with 977126 (56445). The photographer was a  'Road learning Instructor' based at Leeds, and the unit was taken into the 'pit yards' so Knottingley men could have a refresh on the railway, because like miners they had done no work for over a year. The working was 0G33 on 10th July 1986. Michael Kaye 55A
