51116 was delivered new to 64A in December 1957 paired with 56308. It was withdrawn in October 1972.

It went into departmental use as DB 975349 as an ER inspection saloon paired with DB975539 (56101).

It was ultimately cut up by MC Metals at Springburn in July 1993.
