Train Simulators

A feature on Microsoft Train Simulator and it's DMU add-ons can be found here.

Simon Barnes is working on a MSTS project called "Stoke Division 1969", the aim of which is to produce a near realistic train journey around the Stoke Division of 1969. A large proportion of the project involves modelling many custom models of buildings etc. that are seen along the way, and he has also modelled a selection of first generation DMU's for use on the route including a 100,103,104,128 &129 (as reviewed in the link above). There is a website for the project at http://www.ct-4-bve.zandreweb.com/londonmidland/index2.html.

As well as the Microsoft option, there is also Trainz, with DMUs avalable. Russell WS Burgess believes these are better looking models! Examples are a Class 117 (in 2-car formation, 3rd car due soon) and Class 121 made by Russell, and there is a Class 101 by Pikkabird and the Waggon Railbus by Rumor3. See http://img511.imageshack.us/my.php?image=117test3pr.jpg for the 117 and http://img44.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screen1023xo.jpg for a line up of the 121, 117 and 101s (also RB002!).
