Dean Forest DMU Group

The group is based on the Dean Forest Railway near Lydney, Gloucestershire. They own four Class 108 vehicles, all operational. Power / trailer E50619 and M56492 are have been in traffic for several years, complementing the well established steam service. These two vehicles were first paired in 1987 at Bristol Bath Road (BR) depot as set B967 but were split up in 1988 with 54492, as it was then, becoming part of B962 . During 1989 the two cars were reunited when 53619 replaced 53612 in B692. They arrived on the Dean Forest Railway on 20th April 1992. DMBS M51914 has just been restored to operational use. Built in 1960, it was originally allocated to Allerton (AN), then moved to Newton Heath (NH) and finally was transferred to Network Soouth East at Bletchley (BY) where it operated in "North Downs" set L232. In Oct. '99 this DMBS was joined with DTC 56495 brought in from the Northampton & Lamport Railway.

The group publishes a quarterly newsletter giving news of activities and general information on DMUs.
