Now this is a rare bird, out of the 302 BRC&W class 104 units to be built, this is one of only 15 DTCL's to be built. M56182 is also the only one to survive into preservation, because of its second role in life in the departmental fleet as Buxton allocated Sandite unit ADB977554.Seen at Buxton on the 14th February 1988. The grounded body of 51861 made a sorry sight at Bletchley Depot surrounded by 54182 at the far end of the row on the left, and the row on the right consisting of from far to near 51883 then 76227, 70778 and 62118 of EMU set 310093. 9th April 1986. S Gaskell.
Class 115 DMBS no. 51861 with Class 104 DTCL no. 54182 seen behind at Bletchley on the 9th April 1986. The previous year 51861 suffered major underframe damage in a derailment at Marylebone. The body was scrapped on site at Bletchley during August 1986. S Gaskell.
