Allocations

The London Midland Region didn't publish trailer car details until late in 1968. Although not 100% reliable, if it is assumed that the trailers remained with the same power cars, the allocations for 51637 during the unknown period are:

14/11/59 New to Derby Friargate - stabled pending allocation
Dec-59 Transferred to 14A (Cricklewood)

Then the allocations for 59612 are:

17/07/83 Transferred to TS (Tyseley)
12/12/90 Withdrawn from TS (Tyseley) PXXZ

59612 was involved in the following incident:

Luton Collision

25/06/76 - Luton, LMR

Collision involving Class 127 / Class 127

Info from Robert Frise and Bill Read

An empty stock Class 127 unit was struck on a crossover by another Class 127 unit which had passed two red signals. The latter was deflected towards the Down fast line where it was struck a glancing blow by an express passenger train hauled by a Class 45 locomotive. Minor injuries. More Details.

Disposal

Scrapped by Mayer Parry, Snailwell

DMU

Date: 8th March 1986

Set number: TS506

This class 116 at Stourbridge Junction is TS506 (presumably 53840 + 59612 + 53100), making the journey from Birmingham New Street to Kidderminster on 8 March 1986. Despite the frequency of passenger trains on this route and the relatively large number of trains from the Bescot to Stourbridge freight line, the Down Goods Loop wouldn't have seen a huge amount of use. This was because anything from the fright line needing to have been held would simply have waited at Stourbridge North Junction. Freights from the Old Hill line, although fewer in number, may well have been turned inside here although the coating of rust on the rails suggests that this wasn't a daily occurrence. I also think than ECS workings, especially when the single coach set used on the Stourbridge Town shuttles was swapped for fuelling and maintenance at Tyseley, would have been routed along the loop to await a path across the main lines to the sidings. Peter Tandy.

DMU

Date: 4th October 1986

At Longbridge on 4 October 1986 was this hybrid set of single unit class 122 55006 presumably coupled to 59612 + 53100 (class 127 and 116 respectively). These mixed-up sets were from unusual at Tyseley at the time as the depot was suffering with reliability problems from much of its ageing fleet of DMUs. Probably not much for the depot staff but it photographers with an interest in DMUs some odd combinations to record. Peter Tandy.

DMU

Date: 7th March 1987

Set number: TS526

A 47 on a NE/SW working awaiting departure, with a class 116 suburban DMU set no. TS526 formed 53070 - 59612 - 53095 stabled in the rain at Birmingham New Street, 07/Mar/1987. Robert Chilton.

DMU

Date: 19th July 1987

Set number: T620

Three-car set 53878, 59612 and 53056 stabled at Leicester with Norwich's set 72 behind, headed by 51201 and presumably with out of sight, 54347. Unusually the 116 (with class 127 centre trailer) appears to have a Tyseley set number board in the 2nd man's window but with no set number apparently on it (they would be set T620 at this time). The following year 53878 and 59612 were reformed into four-car set T421 and 53056 was in three-car set T342. Robert Chilton.

DMU

Date: 15th March 1989

Set number: T421

Hybrid 4-car DMU set T421 with Class 116 DMS 53878 leading entering the new platforms at Birmingham Moor Street 15-3-89. T421 at this time may have been 53878 + 59741 + 59612 + 51897, Class 116+115+127+115, DMS+TS+TSL+DMBS. On Tour With The Class 13 Army.
