Most of the Pressed Steel built Class 117 three car DMUs spent most of their lives working suburban services out of Paddington. In a short-lived livery, set L420 (W51400 leading) is seen at Banbury North, running round before returning to Oxford. 18/2/80. Mike Dean.

At about this time the rundown of North London Railway dmus was in full swing and we started to couple anything that would move in random sets. Class 117 51400 was at this time withdrawn and is seen in the sidings at Bletchley depot. Ian Buck.
