Class 105 power-twin (leading) + 2 x Class 113 units struck the rear of a stationary ballast train which had been carrying out track work. Seven persons killed and 116 injured. The first three cars were severely damaged and withdrawn. More Details.

This is image 11, captioned "Debris of Driver's control. Lying under rear brake van frame of ballast train." These will be from the vehicle leading in the collision, M50808, and recognisable are the vacumm brake control (handle in the 'off' position), the emergency brake, and two Sharps controls, one to the right of the brake controls (cams showing, the gear controller) and one to the left (spring under the handle showing, the throttle). British Railways.
