A Class 116/101/116 hybrid at Chinley on 27 June 1985. It seems to be set TS601, 53081 leads presumably with 59543 + 53123. Chris Thorp.

Class 116 / 101 DMU vehicles 53081 59543 53123 are unusual visitors to Doncaster station in 1986... an arrival from the Midlands would have been more likely to be a Class 114. Graeme Phillips Collection.

Set number: T306

Class 116 units on Chester depot, 16/5/76, they later formed the 18.20 Chester-Manchester Victoria. The vehicles were 50123 + 59486 (a Class 117 TCL) + 50081 coupled to 50866 + 59374 + 50919, which had just been transferred from Cardiff to Newton Heath, and for some reason the C on the set number has been replaced by a T. Anthony Griffiths.

Set number: TS552

On August 10, 1978, hybrid Class 116/101 set TS552 (presumably 50123 + 59543 + 50081) leads another Class 116 set south of Erdington Station with the 5.59pm Longbridge - Lichfield City service. Michael Mensing.

Set number: TS601

The original subject of this image was 56 048 arriving at Small Heath on 5 March 1986 to collect a train of scrap metal but the 2 DMU sets made the picture in retrospect. The train receding from the camera and going towards Birmingham Moor Street was a hybrid set of classes 116 and 101 (thought to be TS601, 53123 + 59543 + 53081) with a 122 attached and the furthest away a class 116 on its way to either Dorridge or Leamington Spa.
