Class 116 DMU at Skegness

1988

Two of Tyseley's four-car suburban DMU sets in Skegness station circa mid-1988. Closest is set T403 (presumably 53106 (Class 116 DMS) + 59616 (Class 127 TSL) + 59641 (Class 127 TS) + 51852 (Class 115 DMBS) with set T411 on the rear. Brian Ward.

Class 116 DMU at Ramsgate

16th April 1988

Network South East’s “Network Day” on 16th April 1988 turned out to be dull and damp but armed with a ticket giving me the freedom of the network, I headed for Kent. A surprise sight at Ramsgate was this 4 car Tyseley DMU. No idea where it came from, it doesn’t feature on Six Bells Junction. Must have been a relief for passengers to alight here on what must have been a long journey (wonder what route it took) from the Midlands. Set T403 was a bit of a hybrid, the front car here is class 116 53106, the centre cars were class 127 vehicles displaced from Cricklewood by the Bed-Pan electrification, and the rear car was class 115 51852. A real mystery… Murray Liston.

Class 116 DMU at Boston

8th June 1988

Class 116 DMS 53106 at the rear of set T403 formed with class 127 TSL 59616, class 127 TS 59641 and class 115 DMBS 51852 seen curving away towards Skegness in the summer sun near Boston on 8/Jun/1988. Robert Chilton.

Class 116 DMU at Ely

19th September 1988

53106 leads T403 into Ely with a Birmingham bound train, 19/9/88. In the left cab window is a sign which reads "?????? Express from Birmingham" (I can't make out the first line). Mac Winfield.

Summer 1990

Tyseley based DMU set T403 (presumably cars 51852 + 59641 + 59616 + 53106) seen at Wootton Wawen in the summer of 1990. Bob Belcher.

Class 115 DMU at Redditch

May 1992

Tyseley four-car suburban set T403 (presumably 51852 closest) has one NSE liveried vehicle in the rake when seen at Redditch while waiting to return to Four Oaks in May 1992. Stephen Burdett.

6th March 1993

T403 (53106 + 59607 + 51852) have arrived ECS at Birmingham New St ready to a rush hour service, 6/3/93. Gazza Prescott.

51852 at the head of set T403 (51852/59607/59499/53106 on this day) arrives at University station, Birmingham, on the 13.36 New St - Redditch on 10/4/93. Leonard Rogers.
