Norwich allocated Class 101 DMBS E50218 in Birmingham New Street station with a Peterborough service on 3 June 1974. Alistair Ness.

Class 101 DMU at Poppleton

1985

A local stopping service to York from Leeds via Harrogate, formed of a 2 car dmu nearing the end of the single line section and Poppleton station which can be seen in the background. Taken sometime in 1985. The DMBS is carrying Norwich set number 87 from a previous allocation. Paul Braybrook.

Met-Camm set 87 in Cambridge station, date unknown. E53203 is closest, it was at Norwich from May 1986 to May 1989. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Class 101 DMU at Wellingborough

6th December 1987

The weekend of 5/6 December 1987 saw the last semaphore signals between Leicester and Bedford replaced by colour light signals. I spent part of the Sunday around Wellingborough taking a few photos of the old gantries being removed etc, and got this photo of a 2-car Class 101 unit (Norwich set 87, 54080 visible) on a special working at Wellingborough. I think this unit was being used to transport signalling engineers around the area, and, from memory, I think the 2 chaps walking along the platform had just alighted from this dmu. Lewis Bevan.

Class 101 DMU at Norwich

15th May 1988

Class 101 2-car DMU NC set 87 with DMBS 53203 closest to camera arriving Norwich 15-5-88. 53203 became a Sandite car (977897) then entered preservation at Loughborough. On Tour with the Class 13 Army.

Class 101 DMU at Somerleyton

late 1980s

A two-car Class 101 DMU crosses the River Waveney on the swing bridge at Somerleyton on the Norwich-Lowestoft line. The vehicle numbers appear to be 54080 + 53203 which dates it between May 1986 and May 1989 when they formed Norwich set 87. Stuart Mackay Collection.

Although the nearest car of set 87 (DMBS 53203) was a 101, the other two vehicles appear to be from a Class 110 when seen at Harrogate in August 1989. Mike Cooper.
