Class 101 DMU at North Berwick

1975

Class 101 DMU at Princes Street Gardens

circa 1977

A Class 101 (driver trailer as a centre car) passing through Princes Street Gardens circa 1977. S Saunders.

Class 101 DMU at Hamilton DMU Depot, Glasgow

2nd April 1978

A view across the buffers inside the former Steam Depot at Hamilton, Glasgow on the 2nd April 1978 finds an unknown Class 101 3 car DMU, set number 177, alongside six sister units comprising 3 Class 107 and 3 Class 116 sets on the 2nd April 1978. Providing the traction for many of the surburban services out of Glasgow Central, Hamilton DMU Depot was closed and demolished in the early 1980s. Bob Woolnough.

Class 101 DMU at Princes St Gardens

circa 1978

Passing through Princes St. Gardens on its way into Edinburgh Waverley is set 177 led by SC51805. Circa 1978. Malcolm Clements.

Class 101 DMU at Largs

December 1980

Metro Cammell Set 177 with Ayr Depot sticker at the stops as part of a six car set at Largs station in December 1980. Platform 1 is to the very left whilst Platform 3 is on the right. The sign hanging adjacent to the 'Platform 2' probably faces drivers warning them to stop here due to the impending platform ramp. Note the passenger luggage trollies on the platform - perhaps put to good use in summer months with holiday makers bound for the Isle of Cumbrae and Millport! The lattice footbridge in the background merely crossed the station and there was no access to or from the platforms. alicia hartman.

Class 101 DMU at Largs

December 1980

Largs Station on a very dreich day, December 1980 and Metro Cammell 101 units at Platform 2. The DMU at the stops is probably Set 177. Platform 3 is in the foreground and both are still extant (but re-numbered). However, the then Platform 1 did not survive rationalisation during electrification. The brick station building beyond the buffer stops did survive electrification but was demolished later by an errant ECS Class 318 EMU one morning in July 1995. A replacement station building was eventually constructed behind the DMU on Platform 2. The station canopies also survived electrification but are now long gone. alicia hartman.

Class 101 DMU at Glasgow Central

circa 1981

Set 177 led by Class 101 DMBS SC51797 departs from Glasgow Central. Date unknown, the Class 120 centre car is presumably SC59680 which dates it to circa summer 1981. The rear car appears to be a Class 120 DMSL. Paul Redmond.
