A group has approached us about including their membership leaflets with The Bulletin. Is this a good idea? Comments please.

Remember to have your submissions for the next edition ready in time for Saturday 16th November. Running dates and certain other items will be repeated until they become out of date

PRESERVATION

STRATHSPEY CLASS 107s

After stripping down the paintwork on the DMC it was found that the correct number should be 52030 (not 51990) - looks like the numbers got mixed up during Sandite conversion! It is hoped to have 52030 painted by the end of this month and seats fitted over the winter.

LLANGOLLEN 105 56456

Restoration has been slowed by the discovery of blue asbestos in the toilet wall area and the requirement to call in specialist contractors to remove it.

LLANGOLLEN 127 51618

Now under overhaul, the rear brake cylinder has been rebuilt and the brake rigging completely dismantled for the renewal of bushes, etc.

WICKHAM DMBS 50416

Work to rebuild the doors is now completed and attention is now being turned to the welding of an aluminium strip behind the gutters to repair corrosion damage. The driver's partition has been reinstated. The rear end is stripped of paint and missing rivets have been replaced.

SWINDON & CRICKLADE 107s

52005 has had all roof vents removed and plated over due to leaks. When converted for Sandite use the seats were forced off, making reinstatement more difficult.

ICKNIELD 122 55003

Both cabs have been fully refurbished. A start has been made in priming the underframe and one side of the bogies has been done. No. 2 side has had all rusted areas cut out and patched. All seats have been removed for cleaning and painting. Interior lighting has been overhauled. The only operational problem has been a leaking seal on the No. 1 gearbox. A new seal has been sourced from Avon Transmissions, Wakefield.

EAST LANCS 110 59701

Interior restoration nearly complete. Seats have been returned to two of the three saloons and the lavatory and vestibule are now restored.

DEAN FOREST 108s

Not much to report from their newsletter - after all the work done for the DMU Day they deserve a well-earned rest. Running repairs have included attending to minor leaks from injectors, replacing a missing Brammer belt and balancing the brake feed valves.
