South Kirkby, taken in the 'Pit Yard' (which is now a
field). The power car is noted as 51296, it would be numbered
977124 and presumably working with 977126 (56445). The
photographer was a 'Road learning Instructor' based at
Leeds, and the unit was taken into the 'pit yards' so
Knottingley men could have a refresh on the railway, because
like miners they had done no work for over a year. The
working was 0G33 on 10th July 1986. Michael Kaye 55A

The opposite sides of the vehicles were different colours - E56315 was yellow
and E56317 red. Neither vehicle seems to have returned to passenger traffic,
56315 became part of the Fisons weedkiller train in July '74 and 56317 was in
preservation by 1975 at the Gwilli Railway. Keith Gunner.
