These pictures were mainly taken in the late seventies, at a time when the monotony of all-blue units was being broken with the refurbished livery and to a lesser extent at the time blue/grey.

Windemere on the 17th August 1977. The unit, M50776 + M50809 + M50967 + M56250 still has 'Barrow' on the blinds.

 

This Met-Cam (led by E56369) is passing through Keighley on a Bradford working, 13th August 1977.

 

On the 13th August 1977 this Hybrid set formed of Class 101 E51434 and Class 110s E59809 + E51840 is seen leaving Carnforth.

   

M50794 (with M50761) is seen in the company of 82006 at Preston on the 17th August 1977.

 

'E79662 (apparently the first preserved vehicle to be returned to green livery) in the company of E79664 in German red livery at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, 13th August 1977.

 

M51653 leads M59669, M59652 and M51864 working the 'Quaintonian' charter on 28th August 1978. For more details of this regular charter see the feature on it.

Its the 10th August 1977, and E56064 & E50296 are at Morecambe Promenade on the Lancaster Shuttle.

E50227 + E56070 with Class 108 E56197 + E50619 were also at Morecambe two days later on the 12th on a Leeds working.

The Lancaster shuttle at Morecambe again, this time with E56088 + E50207. It had worked from Morecambe with M56265 + M50982 which were going to work the next Barrow service. 12th August 1977.

Aylesbury on the 27th August 1979, with M51672 in blue & grey.

M50956 leads M56238, M50965, M56248, M50968 and M56251 at Windermere on the 31st July 1978.

Skipton, 3rd August 1978, and E50257 + E56090.

M56239 is at Lancaster with M50958 (31st July 1978). On the left is M51940 + M52055.

The side tells us this is 'Test Coach Iris', then numbered RDB 975010. The original M79900 is seen at Crewe on the 22nd September 1979.

E56191 + E50613 entering Lancaster Castle on the 2nd August 1979.

Carnforth, the 9th August 1979. On train on the left is formed E50035 + E56008 + E50289 + E59531 + E51559 (Class 114 & 101/111). On the right is M56475 + M50784 + M56129 + M50374.

Also at Carnforth on the 9th August was a train formed on M50966 + M56249 + M50752 +  M50797 + M50765 + M50798.

M52060 had suffered accident damage when seen at Southport on the 7th August 1979.
