Saturday morning on June 8 1991 at Handborough station on the Cotswold Line delivers C392 (51134+51147) working the 07:52 Hereford-Oxford. The provision of a Welsh 116 was a somewhat interim offering, and both cars of this unit live on, now preserved at the Swansea Vale Railway. At the time of this picture, it was anticipated that as Class 158s were delivered, they would release 150/156s onto the route, pending delivery of the Networker Turbos. In January 1965 Handborough was the destination of Winston Churchill’s funeral train. From here, his coffin was taken by road to a nearby churchyard. Back then, the line was double track and a facing crossover was specially installed at short notice to allow the train to access the platform. Mel Holley
