Left: At Aberdeen Waterloo station with a SRA/SLS branchline special on 26 May 1973. Waterloo had ceased to be a passenger station over 100 years earlier but had continued as a freight depot. A Class 101 3-car unit stands at Aviemore (left) and Boat of Garten (right) on 7 April 1973 whilst operating the first passenger services between the stations since 1965. The unit had run from Edinburgh earlier in the day and returned south after operating the shuttle service. John McIntyre
